What is 'Dry Hire'? Dry Hire is where the customer collects, operates, and returns the equipment to our premises. See also Deposits, and Insurance on this page. Signing of a disclaimer by a "responsible person" may be necessary. Do I need to bring anything with me when I collect the equipment? Private Customers: You will need to present some form of photo identification (ie. driving licence or passport) when you collect the equipment, which should also show your home address. If this is not possible, please bring two documents which show your home address (utility bill, bank statement, etc). This should be no older than three months old. Commercial Customers: Please provide an official order on your company's headed paper when collecting equipment. You will also normally need to provide an order number. How early should I contact you to order any equipment? Please order well in advance, ideally at least one month. Obviously, it's not always practical to give this much notice, in which case we'll try to meet your requirements. It is recommended that all orders should be confirmed in writing. If you need to change your order please provide as much notice as possible. If, for instance, you wanted to change the order at the time of pick up, and we were unable to offer any assistance, the original hire would still stand and you will still have to pay all hire charges. Will I have to leave a deposit? When collecting equipment for dry hire, a suitable deposit will be necessary before any equipment is released. Please be aware of this condition, before making arrangements for collection. What about insurance? Equipment on hire from Spyder UK is not covered by insurance against fire, theft or third party claims (public liability is covered however). Customers are fully responsible for loss or damage to all equipment on hire, and should take out insurance if they deem it necessary. What if I hire equipment, but it turns out to be incompatible with my own gear? If individual sound items are hired, you are advised to collect well in advance of your event to ensure compatibility with existing sound equipment. We accept no responsibility if the equipment is returned after the event with the plea "it didn't work with our equipment". What happens if I damage equipment on hire to me? ALL equipment must be returned in the same condition as when it was collected from our premises. The current "replacement price" will be chargeable on any equipment damaged or not returned from hire. "Replacement price" will be determined by us, based on the costs involved in replacing and/or making good the damaged or lost equipment. What if I break a connector? A £5.00 (per end) charge will be made for any equipment returned without the original standard plug or socket connected (ie. Speakon, XLR, Jack, Phono, Mains plug etc). We reservee the right to increase this to a considerably higher charge concerning any damaged (or missing) non-standard plug or socket such as a multipin or similar connector. I want to sit back and enjoy the gig. Can your guys do the hard work? Spyder UK can supply a number of experienced engineers, however any prior information regarding band line-ups and requirements is important.
